‘Political Science’ is a social science concerned with the theory and practice of politics and the description and analysis of political systems and political behaviour.
The study of ‘political science’ is useful and valuable, as it enables us to know how and why the State was organized, why it continues and what the aims and functions of the State. It makes the individual understand his position in relation to State authority and arouses consciousness in him about his rights. Politics is one of the unavoidable facets of human existence. Almost everyone in a State is directly or indirectly concerned with politics, and therefore, the study of political science is paramount importance to the students of law.
This book provides a short cut to the students of the 5 year law degree course to enable them to get a broad understanding of the topics that would be covered under the revised syllabus with effect from the academic year 2009-2010. Though every effort has taken to incorporate the developments / amendments on the subject, it may happen that some developments might have taken place subsequent to release of the book for publication.
